For the first time in the last 28 years, American Samoa was represented in the Winder Olympics in 2022. And the man who made this dream come true was Nathan Crumpton, a Bobsleigh and skeleton athlete.

Nathan Crumpton was the sole athlete to represent American Samoa at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics after being ranked 26th on the season’s “International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation’s men’s skeleton ranking.”
And the guy marked his presence just in its opening ceremony by appearing shirtless, carrying his territory’s flag around the stadium. Tell us he didn’t look sexy flaunting those chiseled abs under that traditional American Samoa garments.
“I’m honored to have qualified for the Winter Olympics and to represent American Samoa, as well as a region of the world that does not often participate in the Winter Games,” Nathan expressed his gratitude after the appearance.
Furthermore, the athlete even went on to shed light on many setbacks, financial constraints, and injuries along the way, that pushed him otherwise. But he was set on seeing it through to the finish line and paving a way for his upcoming Samoan athletes.
But the wouldn’t be Nathan’s first time in the Olympics. This athlete also previously participated in the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics, making him the first American Samoan to compete in both the Summer and Winter Games.
Though he couldn’t bring home the gold medal then, Nathan went on to run the second-fastest time by an American Samoan athlete at the Summer Olympics, finishing the 100m race in 11.27 seconds.

Unfortunately, Nathan’s paternal grandfather, Daniel Nathan Crumpton passed away on July 28, 2017, at the age of 84.
His grandmother Charlene Smith Crumpton was still doing well then.
