In the case that Ash doesn’t, it’s nice to see the show cap off in such Journey-esque fashion; spending almost three months establishing a nice connection between Ash and Latias, all for it to be the grand prize of another “hunter meets hero” episode. Fantastic arc to send Ash off.
It’s like, the episodes in this short series have been enjoyable, not because of nostalgia alone, but thanks to the writers actually bothering to implement characters in a smart way. Yet, similar to Journeys, I’m just left asking - what’s the point? It’s not the first time the show has recently taken a liking to establishing things, and doing absolutely nothing with it.
Dawn’s return, Koharu’s story (I still cannot believe that was her actual ending), [insert random cameo of the week, like Drake], Serena barley managed to qualify as somewhat useful, Drizzile’s storyline, Raboot’s storyline, the entire existence of Grookey, Goh’s insecurity storyline, this part with Latias…what did these add to the show? Why did half of them go nowhere?
